Primary School Unified Placement Guide

I. Four Situations for Parents Before Unified Placement
Scenario 1: Self-allocation has been completed
Government primary schools are run by the government and directly managed by the Education Bureau. All teachers and employees are civil servants.
Admission method: All new students must be allocated through the government's primary one admission, including self-allocation of places and central allocation.
Tuition fee: No tuition fee is required.
Curriculum: Core courses arranged in accordance with the guidelines of the Education Bureau, such as Chinese, English, Mathematics, General Studies, etc., Some will also be designed for individual schools, such as the Hoi Pa Street Government Primary School in Tsuen Wan, using activities and small class teaching.
Popular schools: North Point Government Primary School, Hennessy Road Government Primary School, Sha Tin Government Primary School, etc.
Scenario 2: Self-reporting failed
After receiving the "not admitted" notification, you will automatically enter the unified placement process. You need to log in to the ePOA system on the specified date to fill in Part A (1-3 choices, any school in Hong Kong) and Part B (30 choices, our school's online school), and at the same time attend the school's online information session to collect the latest ranking information.
Scenario 3: Directly participating in the unified allocation
Completely give up on self-allocation and directly wait for the unified allocation stage. Fill all the choices of Parts A and B (Band 1 in the first 5 games, Band 2 in the middle stage, and Band 2 in the last stage). The psychological pressure is high but there is no interview process.
Scenario 4: Direct-Subsidized Private Dual-Track System
Direct Subsidy Scheme: After being admitted, you must sign a commitment letter to confirm your enrollment, which will automatically give up your eligibility for government-subsidized unified placement (you cannot choose one of the two).
For private schools: You can postpone your acceptance and continue to participate in the government-subsidized unified placement. After the placement results are released, you can compare the two schools to decide which one to accept. However, some primary schools require you to promise not to participate in the unified placement.
II. Unified Placement Process
Primary One Admissions | Centralized Placement Results to be Announced in June
Parents who apply through an electronic account can check the unified placement results in June each year. Parents can also choose to receive the placement results via SMS in the school selection form. At the same time, the placement results will be mailed to parents in early June.

June 4-5 | Parents will be notified of the placement results by mail. |
III. Unified Placement Application Strategy
Part A Strategy (5% of all places in Hong Kong, first come, first served)
Strategy 1: Online Schools for Students with a Desire
Fill in the blank: 1 = Top school outside the network, 2 = Desired school within the network, 3 = Reason for leaving blank: The priority of Category A is high (Category A2 > Category B1), aiming for a 5% chance outside the network; the second choice protects the school within the network; the third choice is left blank to avoid splitting the chances (5% of the places are few, and it is easy to leave them all blank).
Strategy Two: Pure Online Desire
Fill in the blanks: 1 = Top school in the network, 2-3 = Leave blanks. Reason: Concentrate firepower to fight for the 5% chance in the first category, and leave blanks to avoid being taken by lower priority schools; if you fill in the same school as your first choice in the second category, the overall chance will increase (5% + 45%), which will make it easier to knock on doors to show your sincerity later.
情況 | 第一志願 | 第二志願 | 第三志願 |
|---|---|---|---|
Desired School Outside the School Net | Top schools outside the School Net (such as Diocesan Girls' Primary School) (1) | St. Joseph's Primary School (6) | Leave blank |
Within School Net | St. Joseph's Primary School (6) | Leave blank
| Leave blank
|
Part B Strategy (45% of the total enrollment in Hong Kong)
For the second section, it's not recommended to put all your choices in the most popular Band 1. Instead, place your first choice in a popular school and your second or third choices in more stable schools as a safety net.
I. Wan Chai 12 Network Example (Part B, Category B)
This is for logical reference only; parents can choose the appropriate school based on their child's individual level.
It is not recommended to apply to all three most popular schools.
志願 | 學校 | hket排名 | 問題 |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | Marymount Primary School
Marymount Primary School | 6 | normal |
2 | St Paul's Primary Catholic School | 11 | Top schools typically fill up in the first round, wasting a second round of opportunities. |
3 | St. Francis' Canossian School | 31 | The same principle applies to the second round. |
Recommendation (1. Apply to popular schools, 2-3 as backup options)
志願 | 學校 | hket排名 | 邏輯 |
